hockey players and an inclu-
sive learn-to-skate instructor 
in Hamilton.
Biederman also strong-
ly considered attending 
Princeton University and 
Dartmouth College during 
her recruiting process.
“They’re both good 
schools, and I would have 
been happy at either place,
” 
she said. “But Colgate seemed 
like the right place for me, 
and it is.
”
Biederman graduated in 
2022 from Groves, where she 
ran cross country for four 
years and was a member of 
the National Honor Society.
While she was at Groves, 
she played for Little Caesars 
travel hockey teams that won 
back-to-back national cham-
pionships in 2021 and 2022, 
was a national runner-up, 
and won three state tiles. 
She also played for the 
silver medal-winning U.S. 
team at the IIHF Under-18 
Women’s Championships in 
2022.
Biederman attended Hillel 
Day School from kindergar-
ten through eighth grade and 
she was a student teacher for 
Adat Shalom-Beth Achim 
Hebrew school classes from 
2018-21.
Her family lives in 
Franklin. Her parents are 
Jason and Maria Biederman. 
She has a brother Ethan, 
22, who will graduate from 
Michigan State University 
this spring, and a sister Erin, 
16. Ethan, a former hockey 
player, is a 2020 Groves grad-
uate. Erin, a figure skater, is a 
junior at Groves.
