A

top-five political
podcast is making its
way to Royal Oak.
On May 9, #SistersInLaw
Live! Podcast Tour will hit
Royal Oak Music Theatre for
what promises to be a night
of exciting political and legal
commentary and analysis.
 Made up of legal superstars
Barb McQuade, Kimberly
Atkins Stohr, Joyce Vance
and Jill Wine-Banks, the lat-
ter two of whom are Jewish,
#SistersInLaw combines the
expertise and wisdom of four
of America’s most brilliant
political and legal experts.

McQuade is a law professor
at the University of Michigan
and former U.S. attorney, while
Vance is also a former U.S.
attorney and a legal analyst with
NBC and MSNBC.
Atkins Stohr, meanwhile, is a
Boston Globe opinion columnist
and former trial and appellate
litigation attorney. Wine-Banks,
on the other hand, was the
only woman on the Watergate
prosecution team and the
first female General Counsel
of the U.S. Army and first
female executive director of the
American Bar Association.
 Wine-Banks has helped
shape history through
numerous cases, including
many in Detroit while in the
Organized Crime division of
the U.S. Department of Justice
Together, their diverse yet
similar footprints in life deliver
a wide range of perspectives
to #SistersInLaw, a Politicon

podcast aptly named for the
four female legal powerhouses
who help make it a reality.

ANALYZING LEGAL ISSUES
OF CURRENT EVENTS
The 2024 Webby Award-
nominated podcast debuted
at No. 1 on the Apple Podcast
Politics chart in February 2021
and has remained in the top
10. It consists of a roundta-
ble-like discussion between the
four women, who discuss the
most pressing legal issues of
the week, followed by a Q&A
session with listener-submitted
questions.
In each episode, they dive

into the corrupt, offer wisdom
and shed light on the latest
court rulings and political
events.
The second run of the
#SistersInLaw Live! Podcast
Tour will stop in three U.S. cit-
ies, including Chicago, Metro
Detroit and Boston.
Wine-Banks says guests can
expect the podcast experience
brought to life.
“We each bring something
different to the program,
” she
explains of the four hosts. “We
try to stick to the facts and
explain things in a way that is
sophisticated and clear, so that
people will really come away

with an understanding of what
the issues are.
”
In a particularly tumultuous
election year, #SistersInLaw
helps listeners make sense of
pressing issues such as Donald
Trump’s legal battles, abor-
tion access, immigration and
Supreme Court rulings.
Just before recording a show,
the hosts choose that week’s
three biggest topics to dive into,
making the podcast unscripted
and full of surprises.
Wine-Banks explains the
same will be true of the Royal
Oak Music Theatre tour stop.
“Our show is amusing, but seri-
ous,
” she describes. “It’s a show
where people will laugh and
cheer, and come away smarter,
too.
”
#SistersInLaw will open the
floor to questions during their
Metro Detroit show for an
expanded Q&A session.
“We enjoy meeting people
from our audience,
” Wine-
Banks says. “
And we really
enjoy each other’s company as
well, so it’ll be fun.
”
