Metro Detroit Hillel on a 
Narcan Training and Harm 
Reduction Education event. 
The event was held at the 
David B. Sobel Friendship 
House, a space that provides 
support to folks seeking recov-
ery from a Jewish perspective. 
Guest speaker and HAMSA 
(Helping Atlantans Manage 
Substance Abuse) program 
manager Joel Dworkin provided 
recovery and harm reduction 
resources, dispelled myths 
about addiction, discussed 
addiction stigma in Jewish 
communities, and encouraged 
people to think about ways to 
navigate the stress of holidays. 
The participants left the event 
with Narcan, fentanyl test strips 
and vital resources.
