have our voices heard. We,
too, deserve to show our
support and to strengthen
and encourage our Jewish
homeland. More than that —
we also need to be supported!
After a long time of being
isolated, silenced and con-
cerned for our safety (I mean,
what other religious commu-
nity needs to increase security
in its schools and houses of
worship?) this is our chance
to come together and be there
for one another, and for Israel.
This Yom HaAtzmaut event
will be the best expression
of unity, solidarity and resil-
ience, and above all — our
hope that things will be OK.
In Israel, and here.

Lior Zisser-Yogev is the community

shlicha through the Jewish Federation

of Detroit.
