world-renowned pioneer in
medicine and personal trans-
formation. Rosenthal’s confer-
ence, now in its 10th year, has
expanded to offer in-depth
scientific presentations and
attracts attendees from 99
countries, half from the U.S.
A growing body of cred-
ible research reflects a
relationship between yoga
practice and well-being.
A compilation study from
Wayne State University’s
Division of Kinesiology and
the University of Illinois at
Urbana measured studies on
yoga and cognition, finding
that yoga seems to be associ-
ated with moderate improve-
ments in cognitive function.
Multiple Sclerosis News
Today’s April 2023 edi-
tion reported on a study
finding yoga was significantly
better than physical therapy
in improving the quality
of life for those with MS.
Rosenthal’s overarching goal
is to combat misinformation
about yoga.
“We are thrilled to have
the caliber of academic excel-
lence such as Dr. Rosenthal
at our Southfield Forum,
”
said Mindy Eisenberg,
founder and director of Yoga
Moves MS, the nonprofit
organization
presenting
the Holistic
Health and
Wellness
Forum for
MS.
Like
Rosenthal, her
mission is to
educate individuals with MS,
Parkinson’s disease and other
neuromuscular conditions
about yoga as an umbrella for
healthy lifestyle choices and a
way of life.
Eisenberg’s mother, chal-
lenged with a progressive
form of MS and confined
to using a wheelchair and
bed for most of her adult
life, is her guiding light. “Dr.
Rosenthal has succeeded in
bridging the medical research
and empirical evidence on the
benefits of yoga for those with
MS, Parkinson’s and other
neuromuscular disorders,
which is thrilling,
” she said.
This is the third year Yoga
Moves MS has presented the
Holistic Health and Wellness
Forum in Detroit. It will offer
a cross-blend of presenta-
tions that will give attendees
an outstanding overview of
current modalities, lifestyle
options and research. The
event features an exhibit
hall with the latest products,
services, treatments and phar-
maceuticals for those with
MS.
Eisenberg’s Yoga Moves MS
has provided free adaptive
yoga classes for those with
MS, Parkinson’s and other
neuromuscular disorders for
over 18 years.
“I am excited to share my
research on yoga interven-
tions at the Forum, an edu-
cation platform that Mindy
and I are equally passionate
about,
” Rosenthal said.
Other topics and speakers
at the Forum include a pre-
sentation on the famous Wim
Hof Method, a three-pillar
program using cold ther-
apy, deep breathing and a
commitment to practice. Dr.
Jonathan Doty, a Fellow at
MIND (Michigan Institute
for Neurological Disorders),
will present the latest MS
research. Dr. Jeannie Cote, a
Memorial Healthcare Institute
for Neuroscience neurologist
in Owosso, Michigan, will dis-
cuss the relationship between
weight loss and MS.
Karen Couf Cohen is a writer and
public relations professional based in
Franklin, Michigan.
