For more than 30 years, Jamie Shear — Torah scribe,
artist and educator — has been making handwritten
Hebrew scrolls on parchment to the highest standard
of Jewish law, tradition and aesthetic. With a specialty
in micrography, the art of creating elaborate designs
using the quill to form letters, the Montreal-born,
Jerusalem-based artist and scribe creates stunning
Ketubot, Torah scrolls, tefillin, mezuzot, lifecycle art
and more. In Kiddush Cup, the cup and bordering vines
are formed by Shear’s micrography containing Biblical
verses relating to blessings, prosperity, peace and the
traditional ones for welcoming Shabbat. The image
and text also symbolize the vision of peace in the land
of Israel, as written in Micha 4: 3-4. Israeliartnow.org;
