orn to American
parents, Israeli-
American David Ross
of West Bloomfield lived most
of his life on Kibbutz Tzora in
central Israel after his parents
made aliyah
shortly after the
Six Day War.
There, his
mother Shira was
an occupational
therapist who
eventually
developed painful carpal
tunnel syndrome. She

searched for a therapeutic
heating pad that would mold
to her hands and fingers to no
avail.
That was the inspiration for
Ross, 57, to create a moldable,
heatable type of pad to bring
her relief and hatched the idea
for his business, Snook-Ease.
Now selling to thousands
of customers, the online
company features patented
heatable and reusable self-
care products designed to
soothe aches and pains from
head to toe, from relief from

menstrual cramps, hand and
foot warmers to heated eye
masks.
When Snook-Ease began
in Israel, Ross used imported
flax seeds as a filling. Popular
items were heatable shoe
insoles, which were in demand
from those who suffered from

cold feet, especially older
women and cancer patients
with poor blood flow.
Despite initial excitement
for his products in Israel,
he said sales and business
investment opportunities were
tough for personal heating
items in a country known for
