PURELY COMMENTARY

from the executive director
Announcing Our First Annual
Subscription Drive, Now
through April 15
I

am thrilled to share that we are in the
midst of the first-ever Detroit Jewish
News subscription drive. Our goal
during this inaugural event is to grow our
readership by at least 500 new or renewed
subscribers between now and April 15.
The Detroit Jewish News
has been telling stories
through the lens of Metro
Detroit’s Jewish community
since 1942. In good times
and bad, we have consistent-
ly kept you abreast of the
most important local news
and features you can only
find in our pages and on our website.
Now, as history unfolds around us in
Israel and on the world stage — while
antisemitism rages around the world and
here at home — we, as consumers, are
constantly battling the misinformation that
is pervasive in the mainstream media. As

such, it is more critical than
ever that Jewish news organi-
zations like ours continue to
survive and thrive.
However, times have never
been tougher for newspapers.
We are constantly battling the
rising costs of paper, printing and postage
coupled with the expense of engaging top
digital talent, freelance writers and investi-
gative journalists to report on the import-
ant, timely stories that matter in Metro
Detroit and beyond.
Although the majority of our content
can be found on our website, we rely on
our subscribers to help supplement our
costs as we continue to publish the weekly
newspaper while growing our digital pres-
ence. Your subscription ensures that we
will consistently be in your mailbox every
Thursday (or Wednesday, if you get the
digital version!) with the latest features,

news and views.
If you’ve been think-
ing about it, now is the
time to subscribe to
the digital or print edition. We are offer-
ing exclusive, discounted rates to anyone
who subscribes or renews in the next two
weeks. If you are already a subscriber, you
can be sure that your family and friends
also stay informed about and connected to
our community by gifting them a Detroit
Jewish News subscription at the same dis-
counted prices. We are also always accept-
ing your tax-deductible donations.
Help us reach our goal so we can con-
tinue our 82-year tradition of being your
trusted source for news, insights and con-
nection to the Detroit Jewish community.
Thank you!
