O

n the morning
of Oct. 7, as
Hamas terrorists
attacked Israel, they reached
the music festival taking
place very near the border.
Roughly 3,000 Israeli and
foreign partygoers were
celebrating at the psychedelic
Supernova rave.
Immediately, bullets
and missiles were flying
as the festival participants
scattered across fields, to
their cars or attempted
to take cover. Eventually,
360 were murdered before
Israeli security forces finally
arrived. More were taken
hostage to Gaza.
Documentary filmmaker
Daniel Pe’er compiled video
footage from the phones of
partygoers, as well as some
seized by Israeli forces from
terrorist cameras in Gaza
to create a 52-minute film,
entitled #nova.
Temple Israel in West
Bloomfield will be showing
the film and hosting Pe’er,
along with first responder
Eran Masas, on March 13 at
6:30 p.m.
The community is invited;
those who need more
information and wish to
attend are asked to RSVP

at www.temple-israel.org/
event/nova.
A short panel discussion
with Pe’er and Masas will
follow the film, which is
being shown at several
venues globally; its exclusive
Michigan screening will be
at Temple Israel.
Because of the film’s
nature, it is restricted
to those 18 years of age
and older. Although not
too graphic, the raw and
unedited footage brings
immediacy to the atrocities
and may be upsetting to
some people.
Temple Israel will have
clergy and other support
available for those who need
it, including a quiet, safe
space to sit away from the
film if necessary.
The discussion will not
begin earlier than 7:30 p.m.,
so those who are unable
to sit through the film or
choose not to are welcome
to join for this second half of
the program.
The event is supported by
The Miriam z”l and Dr. Isaac
Barr Israel Education Fund,
which has sponsored several
lectures and appearances
as part of Temple Israel’s
TI4Israel initiative.

Jewish women in Michigan who have few
resources, less established credit or limited
family support. With loans up to a maximum of
$10,000, the fund may help in cases such as:

• A 32-year-old mother who needed
help with legal fees in her divorce and custody
case against her abusive husband.
• A 66-year old widow whose husband
managed all the bills and finances during
their marriage, until his final illness. She
needed funds to help keep her home while
she settled the estate.
• A 43-year-old woman whose mother
was in hospice. She requested assistance
to help cover funeral expenses.
