A
s an avid football
fan, the Super Bowl
meant a great deal to
Andy Collins, a person who
was served by JARC for more
than 30 years until he passed
away in 2023.
Since 2017, Andy’s family
has raised money each year
for the Andy Collins Super
Bowl Party Fund, which pays
for a viewing party event for
all interested people that JARC
serves. After Andy passed
away, his family decided
that the best way to keep his
memory alive was to continue
to fund the annual Super Bowl
celebration for the people
JARC serves. In addition, all
donations sent to JARC in
Andy’s name after his funeral
were also added to the fund.
For Super Bowl LVIII,
parties were held at two JARC
homes and attended by 53
individuals from nine JARC
homes. Both homes hosting
the events were decorated
to help the people JARC
serves get into the spirit,
and all guests were provided
with pizza, chips and salsa,
decorative football cookies,
and fruit and veggie trays
to enjoy during the exciting
championship game.
The yearly celebration is
a wonderful opportunity for
the people JARC serves to
gather with their housemates
and friends from different
homes and spend an evening
together, joining the estimated
123 million viewers from
around the world in watching
the big game on TV and
deciding on their favorite
Super Bowl commercials.
