Dr. Komer graduated from 
Mumford High School in 1956 
before pursuing his education 
at Wayne State University and 
the College of Osteopathic 
Medicine in Des Moines, Iowa. 
He excelled in his career as 
a flight surgeon in the Air 
Force, achieving the rank 
of Lieutenant Colonel. Dr. 
Komer’s dedication to aero-
space medicine and psychiatry 
touched the lives of many 
during his service.
Dr. Komer primarily resided 
in Texas, where he made lasting 
contributions in his field. In his 
later years, he found great joy in 
reuniting with his son, Lee A. 
Komer, daughter-in-law, Grace 
Komer, and grandson, Harrison 
L. Komer in Paradise Valley, 
Ariz.
Dr. Komer was a devoted son 
to Lillian and Harry Komer, fos-
tering a deep connection with 

his family. He shared a profound 
bond with his brother, Richard 
Komer, and sister-in-law, Judy 
Komer. He will be deeply missed 
by his sister, Shelly Komer, and 
Avi Zechory, along with his 
nieces, nephews and cousins, 
who held a special place in his 
heart.
A loving husband, Dr. Komer 
was married to Harriet and later 
found love again with Janice 
until her passing.
Dr. Robert A. Komer was laid 
to rest at the National Memorial 
Cemetery in Arizona and hon-
ored with a military burial, 
reflecting his pride in serving 
his country. His commitment to 
his family, profession and coun-
try will always be remembered 
and cherished.

LOPATIN, 95, of 
West Bloomfield, 
died Feb. 19, 2024. 
She is survived by 
her sons and daugh-
ters-in-law, Mark and Jennifer 
LoPatin, and Norman LoPatin 
and Stephanie James; grandchil-
dren, Hanna LoPatin and Steven 
Gebhardt, Sarah LoPatin and 
Eric Magiera, Jonathan LoPatin 
and Samantha Joustra, Rachael 
LoPatin and Aaron LoPatin; 
great-grandchildren, Lillian 
and Nora Magiera, and Freddie 
Gebhardt. She is also survived 
by her loving caregivers, Lisa 
Johnson, Rita Jones, Sharon 
Wells, Robin McKinney and 
Robin Smith Holt. 
Mrs. LoPatin was the beloved 
wife of the late Lawrence 
LoPatin; the devoted daughter 
of the late Leo and the late Edith 
Grossman; the loving sister of 

the late Hillel Haramati and the 
late Milton Grossman. 
Interment was at Beth El
