After graduating from the University of Michigan, Esther taught for a short time in Detroit, then took time off to raise her children before returning to teaching. She received a master’s degree in reading from Oakland University and served as a reading consul- tant for West Bloomfield Schools for 28 years. Mrs. Mintz is survived by her son, Steven Mintz; daughters, Charlotte “Cathy” Mintz and Julie Mintz; grandchildren, Seth Mintz, Sean and Lisa Mintz; great-grandchild, Caleb Mintz; many loving nieces, nephews and cherished friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 64 years, Marvin Mintz; sister and broth- er-in-law, Melba and Sidney Winer; her sister, Seena Sklar; and brother, Gerald Sklar, sis- ters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Beatrice and Shurly Horwitz, Lucille and Milton Sims; parents, Harry and Tillie Sklar; parents- in-law, Samuel and Charlotte Mintz.
