SIDNEY
COHEN, 92, of
Toronto, Canada,
died Jan. 31,
2024.
He is sur-
vived by his children,
Steven Cohen with Helena
Ventrella, Jeffrey Cohen with
Stacy Cohen; grandchildren,
Alex Cohen, Samantha
Cohen, Madison Cohen;
he was the adoring uncle
of Terry Verk with Hesty,
Gordon Verk with Sara,
David Verk, and Marty Verk
with Lena. He is also sur-
vived by many other loving
family members and friends.
Sidney was the beloved
husband of the late Ann
Rosen; son of the late Samuel
and the late Cecilia Cohen;
devoted brother of the late
Betty Verk; grandfather of
the late Sarah Cohen.
Contributions can
be made to the Friends
of the Israel Defense
Forces-Michigan Chapter.

DR. JEROME
“JERRY”
KURTIS, 95, of
Farmington
Hills, died Feb. 5,
2024.
He is survived by his
children, Shellie (Moshe
Koren) Koren Kurtis and
Kevin Kurtis; sisters-in-law,
Donna Kutinsky and Delores
Cornfield; many other rela-
tives and friends.
Jerry was the beloved hus-
band for 64 years of the late
Beverly Kurtis; devoted son
of the late Irene and the late
Karl Kutinsky; brother of the
late Leslie Kutinsky.
Interment was held at
Adat Shalom Memorial
Park Cemetery in Livonia.
Contributions may be
made to the Alzheimer’s
Association, to the Outreach
and Enrichment Program
at the Jewish Hospice &
Chaplaincy Network or to
a charity of one’s choice.

NAOMI SUSAN
MAZZEO (née
Goldberg), 53,
passed away
peacefully in
hospice on Jan.
11, 2024, after a three-year
battle with cancer.
Naomi was born in
Pontiac, Mich., to Lorraine
and Stanleigh Goldberg.
She was an alumna of West
Bloomfield High School,
Purdue University and
Oregon State University.
Most recently at Tyson
Foods as a technical service
manager, Naomi had worked
in the food science industry
most of her adult life. She
was deeply admired for her
