RABBI
MENACHEM
CAYTAK
Rabbi
Menachem
Caytak is the
founder and director of
Chabad Jewish Center of
Troy. He was born and
raised in Ottawa, Canada.
After finishing rabbinical
school in New York, he
married Chana Shemtov
from West Bloomfield.
Together, they opened
Chabad Jewish Center of
Troy to engage the Jewish
community east of
Woodward.
What started out in a
small, rented home in Troy
is now a well-established
Jewish community center,
servicing over 800 Jewish
families in the area. The
goal is to engage the
unengaged, and with a
Hebrew School, camp,
teen classes, college events,
men’s and women’s club’s
and religious, community,
educational and holiday
events, this is happening to
an incredible degree!
Menachem’s passion is
one-on-one connection
and relationships with local
Jews, and chances are you
will probably find him
catching up with someone
over a cup of coffee.
A father of four little
girls, there is nothing more
that Menachem enjoys
than spending time with
his family. In his mind he
has a small family — he is
ninth out of 12 children!
A hobby for Menachem
is running; it’s part of his
early morning routine to

our Interfaith/ Israel Associate,
a mazel tov on his honor of being
named 36 under 36!
