Upon graduation, Molly
took a gap year working

Michigan in the summer of
2018.
Although Molly grew
up in South Florida, she
has always had a strong

connection to the Detroit
Jewish community. Molly
spent her summers at Camp
Walden as a camper, and
eventually counselor and
unit programmer.
Molly spent her first
summer in Michigan
working for Friendship
Circle as the street marketing

She loves trying new

shows and concerts.

RINA HENNES
SABES
Rina is a social
worker, therapist
and mom on a
mission to make
the world a little bit brighter
for everyone she crosses
paths with.
 Born and raised in Oak
Park to a family of givers and
community builders, Rina
has strong ties to the Metro
Detroit Jewish community,
both personally and
professionally.
A social worker since
2014, Rina has worked for
Jewish Family Service in
various roles since 2016. In
her current role as a clinical
therapist, she works with
adults of all ages, helping
to provide support, reduce
isolation and empower
people to live meaningful
and authentic lives.
Rina is particularly
passionate about education,
advocacy and support for
perinatal mental health
— mental health care that
spans the spectrum of
pregnancy, postpartum,
early motherhood and
includes infertility and loss.
She facilitates a postpartum
support group in partnership
with JFamily that runs
several times a year and gives
moms in the community a
sense of connection, support
and the knowledge that
whatever they are going
through, they are not alone.
(Shoutout to her original
co-facilitator, Julia Cohen)
This past fall, Rina created
and co-facilitated a group for
working moms in the Jewish

community and hopes to
expand and run the group
again in the future.
Based on the evolving
needs of community
members, Rina also ran a
support group for women
who were seeking support
and a safe space to discuss
fears, rising antisemitism
and process the experience
of being a Jewish woman and
mother following the attacks
in Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.
Outside of work, Rina
is on the board of her
synagogue, Young Israel of
Oak Park, and runs a free
gown rental for women in
the community. She is a local
volunteer for Postpartum
Support International
and is involved with the
organization I Was Supposed
to Have a Baby.
Rina and her husband,
Josh, have two adorable
children. When she’s not at
work, you can find Rina at
a Broadway show, hiking,
having dance parties with
her kids and staying up
way too late reading. She
loves spending time in local
bookstores and giving them
all her money.
