used their services since the
initial days of the original Dubin
Cleaners.
Others, like the Dubins
themselves, are second- or even
third-generation customers who
remain with the business.
The business’ Facebook
page (www.facebook.com/
Dubincleaners) is also where
customers can keep up to speed
on happenings, services and
videos of how the dry-cleaning
process works.
Still, the Dubins, who are affil-
iated with Temple Israel, don’t
just have strong relationships
with their customers. They give
back to the Jewish and non-Jew-
ish community with donations,
cleaning and pressing a suit at
no cost if a customer has a job
interview, and providing gift cer-
tificates, raffles and more to local
synagogues.
Supporting the community is
ingrained in Dubin Cleaners &
Laundry’s three core principles:

quality, integrity and reliability.
It’s a simple yet effective modus
operandi that not only keeps the
dry-cleaning business afloat, but
growing year after year.
“We have that personal ability,
that personal touch to always
be available,
” says Sandy Dubin,
who manages the business side
of Dubin Cleaners & Laundry,
while her husband, Andy, man-
ages the dry-cleaning side.

PAST INTO THE FUTURE
As for the dry-cleaning methods

themselves, Andy Dubin, 60,
says little has changed.
“The technology is still the
same,
” he explains, with the
exception of the business’ shirt
unit, which is newer, and the
expansion of the linen side of the
business that includes dry clean-
ing sheets, tablecloths and more.
In total, Dubin Cleaners &
Laundry employs six staff who
Sandy and Andy Dubin say are
vital parts of the business. The
dry-cleaning service won’t just
hire anyone — employees must

share the same core values and
be detail-oriented, respectful and
above all, customer-focused.
“We couldn’t do this without
a strong team and dedication,
”
Sandy Dubin says, “and we have
a great team right now.
”
While dry-cleaning chains
may be the bulk of today’s avail-
able dry-cleaning services, it’s
the family-like feel of Dubin
Cleaners & Laundry that makes
it a tough competitor.
From maintaining the same
pickup and delivery route
throughout Oakland County
that allows customers to have
their items dry cleaned with-
out stepping foot into a store,
to operating on the same core
principles and values, Dubin
Cleaners & Laundry continues
to evolve with the times by com-
bining the past with the future.
“When changes occur,
” Sandy
Dubin says, “we always perse-
vere.
