“What’s happened in
the past 20 years has been
incredible,” he says of the
city’s evolution. “While the
young Jewish community
in the suburbs is thriving,
I think in a lot of ways,
it’s still finding a place
in Detroit. There’s room
for growth here and that’s
what makes it a unique
opportunity.”
Moishe Pod Detroit
will maintain strong ties
with other Detroit- and
Metro Detroit-based
Jewish organizations,
including Chabad of
Greater Downtown Detroit
and NEXTGen Detroit,
which also cater to young
Jewish adults. Collectively,
they hope to grow the
community further and
continue to expand its

reach in the Downtown
Detroit area.
While plans are still in
the works for upcoming
events, Ben Sider says
some events the duo are
considering are a night out
at a Pistons game, game
nights and a blood drive.
The Siders are spreading
the word about the new
Moishe Pod Detroit
through a growing
WhatsApp group chat and
on their Instagram page at
@detmopo.
“We’re so happy to be a
part of the amazing work
that so many organizations
are doing,” Ben Sider says.
“If we can be a part of
creating those relationships
and keeping those
relationships alive, we can
keep the ball rolling.”
