Jan. 19, 2024. She will be
joined in celebration by her
sister Sloane. Brooke is the
loving grandchild of Leah
and Jeff Fox, and Ellen and
Mike Jaffe.
She is a student at South
Hills Middle School in
Bloomfield Hills. Brooke’s
most meaningful mitzvah
project has been volunteer-
ing at JARC since she was
little, most recently deliver-
ing Thanksgiving meals to
JARC homes and helping
them during the holiday
season.

Ariella Rae Katz

Southfield on Saturday, Jan.
20, 2024. Participating in
the ceremony will be loving
parents, Leslie and Mitchel
Katz, and twin brother Eli
Katz. Proud grandparents
are Barbara Zack and
Norman Rubin, Karen and
Lawrence Katz, and
Lorraine and Robert Zack of
West Bloomfield.
Ariella is a student
at Hillel Day School of
Metropolitan Detroit in
Farmington Hills. Her mitz-
vah project included a bake
sale, raising nearly $1,400
that she donated to Jewish
Hospice & Chaplaincy
Network.

Association competition
fundraiser with proceeds
benefiting the Innocence
Project.

Avery Shefman,
son of Marla and
Marc Shefman,
will lead the con-
gregation in
prayer as a bar
mitzvah at Temple Israel in
West Bloomfield on
Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024. He
will be joined in celebration
by his brother Brayden.
Avery is the loving grand-
child of Judi and Stephen
Shefman, and Susan and
Jules Myerson.
He is a student at
Berkshire Middle School in
Beverly Hills. As a devoted
animal lover and with a
passion for cooking, Avery
found his most meaningful
mitzvah project to be col-
lecting more than $2,000
for Almost Home-No Kill
Rescue by making and
selling hundreds of his own
homemade dog treats.
