JANUARY 11 • 2024 | 41 T he Jewish Senior Life residents who co-au- thored the new book Don’t Write Me Off! Thirty- Nine Stories of Older Adulthood were definitely the stars of the evening at the organization’s Lives Well Lived: Wrinkles in Time fundraiser on Nov. 14 at the Berman Center for The Performing Arts at The J in West Bloomfield. The beaming first-time authors smiled, posed for pic- tures in front of a life-sized image of the book and per- sonally autographed copies for guests during the pre-glow. Bringing the book to life over a five-month period was a passion project for Beth Robinson, director of Friends of Jewish Senior Life, its volun- teer arm. The event, attended by more than 140 guests and chaired by Hannah Moss, also featured three documentary films, including Young at Heart, the 1987 Oscar-winning movie by late Detroit filmmaker Sue Marx, which was introduced by her friends Jack Lessenberry and Bill Haney. Copies of Don’t Write Me Off! are available in JSL’s boutiques, on Amazon and at https://jslmi.org.
