Oak Park, died Dec. 18, 2023. 
He is survived by his sister, 
Anita Schneider; many loving

SCHNEIDER, 89, 
of Farmington 
Hills, died Dec. 
17, 2023. 
Harvey leaves 
behind a legacy of dedica-
tion, resilience and a passion 
for both his professional pur-
suits and personal interests. 
A Boston native, Harvey 
earned his bachelor’s degree 
in civil engineering from 
Rensselaer Polytechnic 
Institute and a master’s 
degree from San Jose State 
University. 
After serving in the 
Marines, he embarked on 
a successful career contrib-
uting to various projects 
at Lawrence Livermore 
Laboratory in California, 
Turner Construction, Johns 
Manville, Barton Malow 
Construction and Albert 
Kahn Associates.
In addition to his pro-
fessional accomplishments, 
Harvey cherished his role 
as a devoted husband to 
Ortrud Schneider and loving 
father to Deborah (Martin 
Rosenau) Schneider, Michele 
(James) Mathieson, Holly 

(Curt) Nielsen and Dale 
(Victoria) Schneider. His 
legacy extends to his grand-
children, Alexander (Kirsten 
Corneliussen) Rosenau, 
Allison (Thomas James) 
Hext, Jesse Mathieson, 
Maggie (Carter Kinsey) 
Mathieson, Stefan Nielsen, 
Nicole Nielsen, Gabriela 
Nielsen, Lillian Schneider, 
and Lucas Schneider; as well 
as his great-grandson, Ralph 
Kinsey.

MITCHELL 
SHIFFMAN, 81, 
of Playa del Ray, 
Calif., formerly of 
Detroit, died Dec 
8, 2023. 
As a native Detroiter, 
Mitch loved Motown, rock 
and roll and was an avid 
sports fan of the Tigers, 
Pistons, Lions and Red 
Wings. With each season, his 
framed license plate would 
have a separate logo for each 
team. 
He is survived by his 
fiancee, Lynette Contreras; 
her daughter, Layla; his 
children, Michelle and Joe 
Davis, and David Shiffman; 
grandchildren, Blake and 
Rachel; brothers and sisters-
in-law, Dr. Roger and Joanne 
Shiffman, Dr. Douglas and 
Julie Shiffman, and Donald 
and Alene Shiffman; many 
adoring nieces and nephews. 
Mr. Shiffman was the 
devoted son of the late Jennie 
and the late Victor Shiffman. 
Interment took place in
