LORIE BETH GIRSH-
EISENBERG passed away
peacefully with her husband by
her side on Nov. 26, 2023, in
Burbank, Calif.
She is survived by her
husband, Joel Eisenberg; sisters,
Julie (Peter) Borish and Carol
(Bill) Pidto; mother-in-law,
Nettie Eisenberg; brothers-in
law, Mike (Jennifer) Eisenberg
and Neil (Randi) Eisenberg; and
numerous loving nieces and
nephews.
Lorie was the beloved
daughter of the late Elaine and
the late Sheldon Girsh.
Interment was at Eden
Memorial Park in Mission Hills,
Calif. Contributions in Lorie’s
memory may be made to Jewish

American Stroke Association

DR. JUDITH
SCHARTENBERG
GOODMAN, 71,
died Nov. 29, 2023.
She earned her
bachelors’ degree
from Bryn Mawr College and
her medical doctorate from
New York University. She
completed ophthalmology
residency at Long Island Jewish.
In 1988, she joined Fraser Eye
Care Center and worked there
until mid-2023.
She was a frequent board
member of Hadassah of Greater
Detroit and of Temple Beth
El Sisterhood and was an avid
crafter and devoted friend to
many.
Dr. Goodman was preceded
in death by her husband, Dr.
Roy Stuart Goodman; sister,
Frances Gudenkauf; parents, Dr.
Fred and Margot Schartenberg;
and mother-in-law, Phoebe
Goodman.
She is survived by her
daughter, Dr. Lauren Goodman
(Dr. Jaron Goldberg); son, Dr.
Julian (Lindsay) Goodman;
grandchildren Jonah and Tessa
Goodman, and Megan and
Sylvia Goldberg; father-in-law,
Dr. Merrill Goodman; siblings-
in-law, Dr. Nancy Goodman
(Peter) Torpey.
Graveside services were held
Dec. 3 at New Tifereth Israel
Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.
A memorial service will be
planned in the Detroit area;
details are pending. Please
