On Nov. 10, Jewish Senior Life
residents, staff and friends celebrated
Veterans Day 2023 in patriotic style
at two of the organization’s West
Bloomfield buildings decorated in
red, white and blue.
At Hechtman Independent Living
Apartments, Jewish War Veterans
of Michigan representatives Arnold
Gartner and Mark Weiss shared
the history, goals and current
activities of Jewish War Veterans of
Michigan as well as personal stories,
memories and experiences serving
in the military while answering
resident questions. Following their
presentation, entertainer Dianne
Morgan sang well-known patriotic
songs while residents sang along.
At Fleischman Assisted Living
Residence, participants listened to
patriotic songs, and proud veterans
Leslie LaDouceur, Sanford “Sandy”
Pearlman and Dr. Sheldon Stern
shared stories. The residents also
wrote cards to soldiers serving
overseas and solved Veteran’s Day-
themed crossword puzzles.
