Throughout the fall, JARC
helped the people they serve
enjoy the season with several
holiday and fall-themed events,
activities and celebrations.
 Beginning with Rosh
Hashanah, JARC CEO Shaindle
Braunstein hosted an apple
cobbler baking class, and
sessions of JARC’s recurring
Ettable Art series guided
participants on how to make
caramel apple grapes and
graham cracker sukkahs for
Sukkot. Ettable Art classes, a
favorite of the people JARC
serves, are led by beloved
volunteer and former JARC staff
member Etta McDuffey and
allow participants to make their
own edible snacks and treats.
As part of the Sukkot
celebrations, JARC also hosted
a Sukkot Spectacular for the
people they serve. The event
was held at Adat Shalom in
Farmington Hills and was
attended by 84 people JARC
serves, JARC caregivers and

other JARC staff. Rabbi Joey
Krakoff and Hazzan Daniel
Gross welcomed guests to join
them in a sukkah to say prayers.
Attendees also enjoyed music,
cider and donuts, and a build-
your-own-dessert apple bar.
Outings to the Franklin
Cider Mill and apple picking
at Blake’s Farms in South Lyon
added to the highlights of the
fall experience for the people
JARC serves. All who attended
were excited to get out into
the community and enjoy the
nice weather participating in
cherished fall activities and
catching up with friends.
Fall events were capped off
with a Halloween Bingo Night
at Temple Beth El in Bloomfield
Hills complete with a costume
contest and Halloween treats
and prizes, sponsored by JARC’s
Board of Directors.
