Good News!
H

ey there, Metro
Detroiters. Yenta
Girl here. With all
that is going on in our world,
it is important that we take
time to share good news and
bring together
our community.
We certainly
have a lot to be
grateful for and
celebrate.
We welcome
Gary Torgow
as the president
of the Jewish
Federation
of Detroit
and Michael Berger as the
president of the United Jewish
Foundation of Detroit. Their
impact has already been
felt within our community,
and we are so proud of
their incredible work and
dedication.

Phyllis Brickner celebrated
her 95th birthday alongside
her great-grandson, Nathan,
who turned 8. What a special
time for the whole family.
Kol hakavod to Daniel
Kaufman, president at Burns
& Wilcox, for being named
a Crain’s Detroit Business 40
Under 40 honoree.
One of my personal mentors,
Lois Shaevsky, celebrated her
85th birthday with a glamorous
party surrounded by her family
and friends. She is truly one of
a kind.
Photographer extraordinaire
Linda Solomon was inducted
into the Hall of Fame of
Sparky Anderson’s CATCH
Charity for Children.
Congratulations, Linda!
Spotted under the chuppah
at Knollwood Country
Club, Marissa Siegel and
Jake Katzman were wed

in a beautiful ceremony
surrounded by many loved
ones. Mazel tov!
The National Council of
Jewish Women Michigan’s
Women of Vision Luncheon
honored four impressive
ladies. The Josephine S.
Weiner Community Service
Award was presented to the
Kneaded with Love trio:
Denise Kalt, Mindy Salzberg-
Siegel and Barbara Wallace,
and the Woman of Vision
Award was given to Rachel
Stewart. Rachel Stewart is
the fourth generation of her
family to run Gardner-White.
Rabbi Megan Brudney

and everyone’s favorite
cheesemonger, Zach Berg,
welcomed a baby girl, Jolie, in
October. Sending big hugs to
the whole family!
Andee and Ken Marcus
celebrated 45 years of marital
bliss. Wishing you both many,
many more!
During an adventure to the
Toledo Zoo, Seth Blazofsky
popped the question to
Sydnie Saltz, and she said
yes! Let the wedding planning
begin.

Please fill me in on all your “jewcy”

news at samanthafoon14@gmail.com.

I cannot wait to brighten your day.
