GOODMAN, 83, 
of Detroit, died 
Nov. 17, 2023. 
He was a lifelong 
fighter for justice 
and tireless warrior for the 
underdog. He brought joy and 
light to everyone in his world.
Mr. Goodman is survived by 
his children, Amy Goodman 
and Mark Blade, Michael 
Goodman and Miranda 
Johnson, David Goodman 
and Jennifer Bowman, Jacob 
Hurwitz-Goodman and Meg 
Urisko, Nicholas Hurwitz-
Goodman, and Daniel Hurwitz-
Goodman; grandchildren, 
Ben Blade, Sadie Blade, Nola 
Goodman, and Louis Goodman; 
brother, Dick Goodman. He 
is also survived by his loving 
companion Susan Gzesh; Julie 
Hurwitz, the mother of three of 
his children and longtime law 
partner; and Jane Goodman, 
mother of his three eldest chil-
dren. He is also survived by a 
constellation of loving family 
members, co-workers, friends, 
bartenders, musicians, artists, 
clients and admirers.
Mr. Goodman was the dear 
son of the late Ernie and the late 
Freda Goodman.
A celebration of his life will
