was admitted to the hospital.
His requests were simple:
Please bring my cologne (so
he could flirt with the nurs-
es) and his electronics (for
YouTube, FaceTime and doing
work on his computer). He
even joked about having his
weekly card game moved to
the hospital.
Robert Schweiger was
one of a kind. He had movie
star good looks, a wonderful
Austrian accent, a personality
like no other, a strong work
ethic, an entrepreneurial spirit
and an insatiable love of life.
He was devoted to his family
and was a trusted adviser and
mentor to many.
He traveled the world and
spent summers in Europe
until he and Shirley could no
longer do so. He loved golf,
and he and Shirley played

nearly daily up until the last
decade of his life. He was
a hard worker, a successful
entrepreneur and business-
man, who, among multiple
business pursuits, went to
work with his parents after
returning from the war.
Ultimately, with family by
his side, he grew the busi-
ness his father, Hugo, started
during the war with a sack
of solder on his back. The
business, Wonder Solder
Company, which also later
acquired United Paint Service,
became an industry-leading
multi-generational fami-
ly-owned business before ulti-
mately being sold.
Bob loved his sweets, and
during COVID ordered cakes
and pastries from Vienna and
New York. He loved cooking
with butter, lots of it. He was a

joker. A charmer. A huge flirt.
A storyteller. And a beloved
husband, father, grandfather,
great-grandfather, uncle, cous-
in, friend and adviser. As all
who knew him have said, he
did it his way; he was one of
the great ones, and his death
truly marked the end of an
era.
He would often tell family
and friends that as Jews, we
should not get too comfort-
able and that antisemitism is
always lurking. He was con-
cerned about history repeating
itself.
Mr. Schweiger was the
dear father of Rochelle (Saul)
Lenhoff, Louise (Dr. Steven)
Spector, and the late Charles
Schweiger; loving grandfather
of Adrienne Lenhoff (fiancé
Steven Rotenberg), Adam
Lenhoff, Ben Spector, Sam

(Glenn Greilsamer) Spector;
adoring great-grandfather of
Hannah Wise, August Spector,
and Saxon Greilsamer-
Spector; proud uncle of Fred
(Bryna) Steiner, Martha
Cohen, Jess Elson, Ron
(Kathy) Friedman, and Gail
(Jerry) Beale. He was a devot-
ed friend to his caregiver and
companion, Marie Regis.
Robert was predeceased
by his loving wife of 77 years,
Shirley; sister, Selma (Bill)
Steiner; and brother, Irvin
Schweiger.
Interment was held at
Adat Shalom Memorial
Park Cemetery in Livonia.
Contributions may be made
to Yad Ezra, to Jewish Family
Service, to Jewish War
Veterans or to the Friends of
the IDF. Arrangements by
