the new partnership
between The Well and
Shalom Hartman Institute.
Stombaugh says the four-
part series will blend pro-
fessional development and
networking, making it a
great opportunity for young
Metro Detroit Jewish adults.
Creating free program-
ming was critical to the mis-
sions of both organizations.
Stombaugh says low- or
no-cost programming helps
make Jewish learning oppor-
tunities more accessible to
young adults while breaking
down barriers.
Given the incidents of
the last few weeks between
the ongoing Israel-Hamas
war and the sharp rise of
antisemitism across the
world, Stombaugh believes
connection and learning is
more important than ever,
even more so, maintaining
open dialogue.
The four-part program
will help participating young
adults to develop their voice

and articulate their thoughts
or feelings during what has
proven to be a difficult and
emotional time for Jewish
individuals worldwide,
including those in Metro
Detroit.
Stombaugh is also hope-
ful that the Hartman’s
Community Leadership
Program-Seminar in Israel
will still take place next
summer between June 26
to July 3, 2024, since those
who attend the series will be
eligible to receive funding to
subsidize the seminar.
Once the four-part pro-
gram is complete, the orga-
nizations will assess the
response and participation
and, ideally, continue the
sessions into the foreseeable
future.
“I would love for this to
happen again,” Stombaugh
says.
