“Michelle was at that
moment in church lighting
a candle for Daniel,” said
Margery. “She felt the
vibration of her phone and
ran out of church to answer
it. When she realized it was
me, she burst into tears.”
Margery updated Michelle;
that Daniel is doing fine, how
he’s been involved in various
classified missions. Margery
and Howard hardly hear
from their son and worry
about him constantly.
Margery also shared
with Michelle that she and
Howard have been raising
money for the critical needs
of Daniel and his unit and
forwarded the donation link
to Michelle. The couple who
had met Daniel “by chance”
on the plane all those months
before became one of their
most generous donors — and
then spread their support

further by forwarding the
link to all their friends and
family.
“You just never know who
gets put in your way and the
ramifications of being nice to
some strangers on a plane,”

marveled Margery.
For the Bungums, who’d
spent an inspiring and
touching trip in Israel
exploring all the Christian
sites, Jerusalem, the Western
Wall, the Old City, Masada

and swimming in the Dead
Sea, meeting Daniel on the
flight home was literally the
cherry on top.
“There are certain people
you meet who just touch your
heart,” reflected Michelle.
“And for us, Daniel was one.
People like him make the
world a better place.
“Daniel will be such a great
doctor one day; he will make
people feel good just by being
there. God willing, Daniel
will be a wonderful asset to
the medical pro-fession.
“In the meantime, I hope
his wonderful family stays in
touch. We’re forever saying
prayers for Daniel and the
other soldiers, and all the
people in Israel.”
