Oak Park City Manager Erik
Tungate sent out a statement
Tuesday morning, Oct. 10,
reiterating the city’s
commitment to safety.
“
As the situation
continues to
unfold in the
Middle East,
the City of Oak
Park team and
I remain on high
alert regarding
the impacts attacks
on Israel have on
our community. I
want to reassure
the people of Oak
Park that our Public
Safety Department
is fully aware of the
situation and has
increased its patrols
around synagogues
and the surrounding
neighborhoods.
”
“We are committed
to providing the
necessary resources
to not only keep all of
our residents safe, but
to foster that feeling
of safety as well,
” said
Oak Park Public Safety Director
Steve Cooper. “Our dedication
to supporting the people of Oak
Park and maintaining safety is

unwavering.
”
Tungate wrote, “
As
Director Cooper noted, we
are committed to public
safety in Oak Park,
and that level of
commitment
is applied to
everyone. Oak
Park is one of
the most diverse
communities in the
State of Michigan,
and we treat our
diversity in this city as
a strength. And as we
remain extremely proud
of our diversity, we
must also remain aware
of how national and
international events can
directly impact those
who live here.
“While the
magnitude of the
war has not been
fully realized, the
incidences of pain and
suffering is already
incomprehensible.
We open our arms
in comfort to all of
those impacted by
the tragic events overseas and
will continue to provide the
necessary support for the entire
Oak Park community.
”

Juggling work, family and your
own well-being isn’t easy. But
you are not alone. Join Jewish
Family Service for a free six-
week support group where
you’ll find solidarity and a
space to vent, laugh and cry
about the challenges you face
as a working mom. This group
is open to full-time working
moms with kids up to age 5
and is facilitated by JFS social
workers Rina Hennes Sabes,
LMSW
, and Aliza Bracha

Klein, LMSW
. Topics will cover
how to make dinner every
night without losing your
mind; how to advocate for
yourself with your boss without
losing your job; and how to
process the emotional journey
of being a working parent.
The group meets Mondays,
through Nov. 13 from 7:30-9
p.m. at Jewish Family Service
Oak Park, 25900 Greenfield
