Sept. 9, 2023. He will be 
joined in celebration by his 
sister Lyla. Ari is the loving 
grandchild of Susanne and 
Ruben Acrich, and Shirley 
and Robert Oles. 
He is a student at Clifford 
H. Smart Middle School in 
Commerce Township. Ari’s 
most meaningful mitzvah 
project was participating 
in Walk MS: Detroit 2023 
where he walked and raised 
funds for those affected by 
multiple sclerosis.

Jayden Asher 
Falcon, son of 
Marla (Dr. Sol 
Cogan) Falcon 
and Brian Falcon, 
will be called to 
the Torah as a bar mitzvah at 
Temple Israel in West 
Bloomfield on Friday, Sept. 8, 
2023. He will be joined in 
celebration by his brother 
Jaxon, and Eli Cogan. Jayden 
is the loving grandchild of 
Sharon and Dr. Barry Lesnick, 
and Penny and Tom Falcon. 
He is a student at South 
Hills Middle School in 
Bloomfield Hills. Jayden’s 
most meaningful mitzvah 
project was collecting books 
to support Rx for Reading, a 
program that fosters reading 
and distributes children’s 
books to underprivileged 
families throughout Michigan.

Julia Brooke 
Finkelstein, 
daughter of 
Karen Merkle and 
Michael 
Finkelstein, will

Bloomfield on Saturday, 
Sept. 9, 2023. She will be 
joined in celebration by her 
sister Alexandra and her 
brother Jackson. Julia is the 
loving grandchild of Linda 
Merkle, the late Dr. Richard 
B. Merkle, and Cheryl and 
Albert Finkelstein. 
She is a student at South 
Hills Middle School in 
Bloomfield Hills. Julia’s most 
meaningful mitzvah project 
was collecting dance apparel 
for donation to various dance 
programs, serving dancers 
in need.

Zoe Ilana Fish, 
daughter of Emily 
Bean, will be 
called to the 
Torah as a bat 
mitzvah at 
Temple Israel in West 
Bloomfield on Saturday, 
Sept. 9, 2023. She will be 
joined in celebration by her 
sister Sarah. Zoe is the loving 
grandchild of Renee and 
Barry Bean. 
She is a student at Hillel 
Day School of Metropolitan 
Detroit in Farmington Hills. 
Zoe’s most meaningful 
mitzvah project was 
spending time at Friendship 
Circle creating a special 
bond with a child who has 
special needs.

Charlotte Goldie 
Soble (Chaya 
Gavrila), daughter 
of Jennifer and 
Ryan Soble, will 
be called to the 
Torah as a bat mitzvah at 
Adat Shalom Synagogue in 
Farmington Hills on Saturday, 
Sept. 9, 2023. She will be 
joined in celebration by her 
brother Jack. Charlotte is the 
granddaughter of Karen and 
Allen Amber, and Doree 
Soble and the late Ken 
Soble.
Charlotte is a student at 
Detroit Country Day School 
in Bingham Farms. Her 
mitzvah projects include 
volunteer work in the 
community and at Adat 
Shalom, helping children and 
older adults.

Alexa Sosin (Yael 
Michal) of 
Franklin will 
become a bat 
mitzvah at 
Congregation 
Shaarey Zedek in Southfield 
on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023. 
She is the daughter of Julie 
and Matthew Sosin, and 
sister of Zachary Sosin. 
Proud grandparents are 
Lorraine and Alden Leib, and 
Nancy and Neil Sosin.
Alexa is a student at 
Cranbrook Kingswood 
Middle School for Girls in 
Bloomfield Hills. Among 
her mitzvah projects was 
working on the Hadassah 
Doll Project.

HOW TO SUBMIT ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mazel Tov! announcements are welcomed for members of the 
Jewish community. Anniversaries, engagements and weddings 
with a photo (preferably color) can appear at a cost of $18 each. 
Births are $10. There is no charge for bar/bat mitzvahs or for 
special birthdays starting at the 90th.

Applications are now being 
accepted for the 38th 
cohort of the Bronfman 
Fellowship. The Fellowship 
selects 26 outstanding 
North American teenagers 
for a free, intellectually 
challenging year of 
programming, beginning 
with an immersive seminar 
that includes travel to 
Israel and the U.S. between 
the Fellows’ junior and 
senior years of high school, 
followed by monthly 
virtual experiences and two 
additional seminars in the 
U.S. The program educates 
and inspires exceptional 
young Jews from diverse 
backgrounds to have a 
significant impact on 
the world as community 
builders, deep thinkers, 
moral voices and cultural 
creators. 
Applications for the 2024 
Fellowship are due Dec. 
4, 2023, and are available 
online at bronfman.org. 
High school students in the 
United States and Canada 
who self-identify as Jewish 
and who will be in the 11th 
grade in the fall of 2023 
are eligible to apply. The 
Fellowship is a pluralistic 
program for Jews of all 
backgrounds; prior Jewish 
education is not required.
