Jewish Associates at Providence Hospital, Southfield, were
treated to a Lunch-and-Learn on Tuesday, July 25, when Rabbi
Aharon Amzalak from Chabad Lubovitch spoke about “Tisha
b’
Av observances for Hospital Patients and Staff.”
The monthly gatherings at the hospital allow Jewish staff
to mingle, share updates and learn about how Jewish practice
intersects with medical needs.

Jewish Family Service’s Gray
Matters Free Brain Workshops
presents Culinary Art Therapy:
Brain Development Through
the Senses with
Julie Ohana,
LMSW
, on
Wednesday, Aug.
16, from 1-2:30
p.m. via Zoom.
Julie Ohana has
been cooking all
her life. It started
while baking family
recipes with her
grandmother, working as a
prep cook while in high school
and as the kitchen manager at
her summer camp.
As she developed a passion
for cooking, Julie discovered a
second love — helping people
through therapy. She lives in
West Bloomfield with her hus-
band (who also happens to be
an outstanding cook) and two
children. In addition to her
full-time job, Julie enjoys help-
ing others find meaning and
fun in their own kitchen.

Join JFS as she discusses the
positive impact culinary expe-
riences have on the mind and
body, emphasizing the benefits
on brain develop-
ment through stimu-
lating the senses.
This virtual Gray
Matters can be
enjoyed as a specta-
tor or with hands-on
participation. If you
would like to cook
along with Julie on
Zoom from your
own kitchen, JFS can provide
all the ingredients to the first
30 people who contact them.
For those who prefer to do
their own shopping, JFS is
happy to provide a list of ingre-
dients instead.
After registering, contact
Joely Lyons at (248) 392-0767
to request a shopping list or to
reserve your package and pick-
up instructions.
Register in advance for this
Zoom event at https://tinyurl.
