Ray, a 24-year-old Black
secretary, was denied a
seat on the SS Columbia.
Thurgood Marshall took her
fight for inclusion to the U.S.
Supreme Court in 1948 and
won. Aaron Schillinger and
Desiree Cooper will be on

hand to talk about her story
and its Jewish connections,
their documentary Boblo
Boats: A Detroit Ferry Tale.

ADELE TRIBUTE

NEXTGen Detroit is planning
a unique night out at the
Masonic Temple in Detroit
celebrating the music of
Adele. The hour-long, can-
dle-lit concert features the
Listeso String Quartet per-
forming more than a dozen
of Adele’s chart-topping
hits in the Masonic’s Crystal
Ballroom. Prior to the show,
take a tour of Detroit’s his-
toric Masonic Temple. If you
can’t make the tour, but still
want to experience the con-
cert, that is fine. Tickets will
be emailed to you before
the show: $30 per person
includes tour and concert.
This event is intended for
young adults ages 21 to 39.
