MAY 18 • 2023 | 99 Michigan Region BBYO Elects New Regional Boards Michigan Region hosted its final convention of the year April 21-23, at Camp Maas. Teens from Metro Detroit, Ann Arbor and Windsor, Canada, gathered to close out the programming year with the annual Spring Convention. This event featured special guests including Dancing with the Stars’ Alan Bersten, teen-created and teen-led programming, and the elec- tion of Michigan Region BBYO’s 99th and 79th Regional Boards. For rising teen leaders, regional board elections were a highlight. The next group of leaders were elected to bring Michigan Region to new heights. The 12-per- son board will represent the region as teens work to expand BBYO in their home cities. Eden Smith was elected as the 79th regional teen president and will be serving alongside Gabe Sugarman, the 99th regional teen presi- dent. In the role of president, Eden and Gabe will be guid- ing the new regional boards and their chapter counter- parts to strengthen their BBYO communities further. Mia Brand and Ethan Simon will be serving as the region’s 79th and 99th teen vice presidents of pro- gramming. Mia and Ethan will work together to elevate regional and chapter pro- gramming over the next year. The 79th and 99th teen vice presidents of member- ship are Hailey Serlin and Zachary Elbinger. These Regional Board members will be tackling recruitment, retention, and education for Michigan Region over the next year. Sara Cohon and Ryan Rubin will be serving as the 79th and 99th teen vice pres- idents of communication. In this role, Sara and Ryan will be handling regional social media, governance and glo- balization. Talia Begres and Jonah Miller were elected as the Region’s 79th and 99th teen vice presidents of Jewish enrichment. These leaders connect Jewish heritage and community service into regional and chapter pro- gramming.
