HERMAN, 89, of 
Farmington Hills, 
died April 23, 2023. 
He is survived 
by his beloved 
wife, Marilyn Herman; son and 
daughter-in-law, Leonard and 
Shari Herman; daughters and 
sons-in-law, Leslie and Colin 
(Davies) Herman, Lori and Jim 
Frye; grandchildren, Erica and 
Rebecca Nowak; great-grand-
children, Ryder and Everette; 
brother and sisters-in-law, 
Larry and Mary Ann Herman, 
Barbara Fink, Brenda Kaplan; 
nieces and nephews, Nicole and 
Jimmy Polack, Eric and Jennifer 
Herman, Estelle and Steve 
Wisniewski, Daryl and Kim 
Fink, Dale Fink; other loving 
family and friends.

JANET KOVER, 
103, of West 
Bloomfield, died 
April 23, 2023. 
Janet was born 
in Willoughby, 
Ohio. She completed her under-
graduate degree at Ohio State 
University and was certified in 
social work at Case Western 
University. 
She served with the 
American Red Cross as a 
group social worker during 
World War II with the rank 
of lieutenant at a Cleveland, 
Ohio, hospital, where she met 
her future husband, Master 
Sergeant David Kovarsky. 

Following WWII, she 
received her teaching degree 
from Wayne State University 
and became a kindergarten and 
first-grade teacher in Livonia 
and Southfield schools. 
Her master’s degree was 
received from University of 
Michigan and her specialist 
post degree was completed at 
Oakland University. 
Janet was a lifelong member 
of Temple Israel, Temple Israel 
Treasurers, Council of Jewish 
Women, Women’s International 
and others. She was an avid 
learner and reader throughout 
her life and enjoyed volunteer-
ing.
Mrs. Kover is survived by 
her children, Mark and Karen 
Kover, Kathy Leeman and Tim 
Turnock, Joan and Milton 

Levine; four grandchildren. 
Her beloved husband, David, 
died in 2000. She was also 
preceded in death by parents, 
Mary and Harry Simon; sis-
ters, Frances Goldberg, Sylvia 
Wachtel and Raenette Simon; 
and brother, Howard Simon.
Interment was at Beth El 
Memorial Park. Contributions
