88 | APRIL 27 • 2023 DR. FREDDIE AVERBUCH, 84, of Naples, Fla., died March 22, 2023. Dr. Averbuch is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Lenore; his children, Michele and Ahron Zygman, Amy Dunn, and Jeffrey and Connie Averbuch; grandchildren, Benjamin and Gabby Zygman, and Joshua and Matthew Averbuch; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sol and Bobbi Dunn, and Irving and Dorothy Dunn; stepchildren, Cheryl Katz Briggins and Anthony Briggins, Debra and Jim Hemenway, and Julie Adelson; stepgrand- children, Austin and Alexia Hemenway, and Shae, Tori and Savannah Adelson; sis- ter-in-law and brother-in-law, Marilyn (Dr. Harvey) Saperstein; sister and brother-in-law, Sharlene and Dr. Sidney Beck. He is also sur- vived by many nieces and nephews. Freddie was the beloved husband of the late Deanna Averbuch; and the dear brother- in-law of the late Carol Sohigian. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends, and he will never be forgotten. Dr. Averbuch was born and schooled in Detroit. He graduated from Mumford High School (1956), Wayne State University (1959), with a medical degree from Wayne State University College of Medicine (1963). Freddie completed an internship at Sinai Hospital in Detroit (1964) and a four-year residency at Henry Ford Hospital, specializ- ing in ear, nose and throat. Freddie was a member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek for more than 40 years and served on the board of directors for three years. He served in the United States Air Force based in Tachikawa, Japan, as a practicing physician from 1968-1970. Upon his dis- charge, he continued his practice in subur- ban Detroit. Freddie was the beloved son of the late Gilbert and the late Sophie Averbuch; and the dear son-in-law of the late Jack and the late Chana Dunn, and the late Paul and the late Shirley Frank. Interment was at Clover Hill Park Cemetery.
