MARTY
HOCHBAUM,
69, of West
Bloomfield, died
April 6, 2023.
A child of
Holocaust survivors, he
lived on an egg farm with
his family. He went to
Boston University and
then traveled to Israel

and received a law degree
from Bar-Ilan. He lived in
Israel for eight years; and,
in 1990, he married his
beloved Alison.
Working for Israel Bonds,
he also became a substitute
teacher, helped during
lunches and volunteered
at the Farber Hebrew Day
School. He also volunteered
with Bais Chabad of West
Bloomfield, working his
way through first as a board
member, treasurer, vice
president and president of
the shul.
A serious Torah student,
he was also a born teacher
in any environment. He
loved classical music and
had a great, quiet and quick
sense of humor, especially
loving funny T-shirts.
Marty believed that life
had many lessons and so
he strived to be humble, to
be gracious, to appreciate
everything and everyone, to
always be content and treat
everyone with dignity.
Mr. Hochbaum is
survived by his wife of 33
years, Alison Hochbaum;
daughter, Elana Hochbaum
of Jerusalem, Israel; sister-
in-law and brother-in-law,

Ilene Hochbaum; nieces
and nephews, Nechama and
Jason Fertig, Michal and
Dan Hoffman, Aliza and
Jacob Bliberg, Joshua Raider
and Jazmin Haque; a world
of other loving relatives and
friends.
He was the loving son of
the late Fannie and the late
Max Hochbaum; cherished
brother of the late Shlomo
Hochbaum; dear uncle of
the late Zachary Raider;
