DR. FREDDIE 
AVERBUCH, 84, 
of Naples, Fla., 
died March 22, 
2023. 
Dr. Averbuch 
was born and schooled in 
Detroit. He graduated from 
Mumford High School (1956), 
Wayne State University (1959) 
and with a medical degree 
from Wayne State University 
College of Medicine (1963). 
He completed an internship 
at Sinai Hospital in Detroit 
(1964) and a four-year resi-
dency at Henry Ford Hospital, 
specializing in ear, nose and 
throat.
Dr. Averbuch was a mem-
ber of Congregation Shaarey 
Zedek for more than 40 years 
and served on the board of 
directors for three years.
He served in the United 
States Air Force based in 
Tachikawa, Japan, as a practic-
ing physician from 1968-1970. 
Upon his discharge, he contin-
ued his practice in suburban 
Detroit.
Freddie was the beloved 
husband of the late Deanna 
Averbuch; the dear brother-in-
law of the late Carol Sohigian; 
the beloved son of the late 
Gilbert and the late Sophie 
Averbuch; the dear son-in-law 
of the late Jack and the late 
Chana Dunn, and the late Paul 
and the late Shirley Frank.
Dr. Freddie Averbuch is 
survived by his beloved and 
devoted wife, Lenore; his 
children, Michele and Ahron 
Zygman, Amy Dunn, and 
Jeffrey and Connie Averbuch; 
grandchildren, Benjamin and 
Gabby Zygman, and Joshua 
and Matthew Averbuch; broth-
ers-in-law and sisters-in-law, 
Sol and Bobbi Dunn, and 
Irving and Dorothy Dunn; 
stepchildren, Cheryl Katz 
Briggins, Debra Hemenway, 

and Julie Adelson; stepgrand-
children, Austin and Alexia 
Hemenway, and Shae, Tori, 
and Savannah Adelson; 
sister-in-law and brother-
in-law, Marilyn (Harvey) 
Saperstein; sister and broth-
er-in-law, Sharlene and Dr. 
Sidney Beck; many nieces and 
nephews. He will be greatly 
missed by all his family and 
friends, and he will never be 
forgotten.
