OBITUARIES
OF BLESSED MEMORY

DR. FREDDIE
AVERBUCH, 84,
of Naples, Fla.,
died March 22,
2023.
Dr. Averbuch
was born and schooled in
Detroit. He graduated from
Mumford High School (1956),
Wayne State University (1959)
and with a medical degree
from Wayne State University
College of Medicine (1963).
He completed an internship
at Sinai Hospital in Detroit
(1964) and a four-year resi-
dency at Henry Ford Hospital,
specializing in ear, nose and
throat.
Dr. Averbuch was a mem-
ber of Congregation Shaarey
Zedek for more than 40 years
and served on the board of
directors for three years.
He served in the United
States Air Force based in
Tachikawa, Japan, as a practic-
ing physician from 1968-1970.
Upon his discharge, he contin-
ued his practice in suburban
Detroit.
Freddie was the beloved
husband of the late Deanna
Averbuch; the dear brother-in-
law of the late Carol Sohigian;
the beloved son of the late
Gilbert and the late Sophie
Averbuch; the dear son-in-law
of the late Jack and the late
Chana Dunn, and the late Paul
and the late Shirley Frank.
Dr. Freddie Averbuch is
survived by his beloved and
devoted wife, Lenore; his
children, Michele and Ahron
Zygman, Amy Dunn, and
Jeffrey and Connie Averbuch;
grandchildren, Benjamin and
Gabby Zygman, and Joshua
and Matthew Averbuch; broth-
ers-in-law and sisters-in-law,
Sol and Bobbi Dunn, and
Irving and Dorothy Dunn;
stepchildren, Cheryl Katz
Briggins, Debra Hemenway,

and Julie Adelson; stepgrand-
children, Austin and Alexia
Hemenway, and Shae, Tori,
and Savannah Adelson;
sister-in-law and brother-
in-law, Marilyn (Harvey)
Saperstein; sister and broth-
er-in-law, Sharlene and Dr.
Sidney Beck; many nieces and
nephews. He will be greatly
missed by all his family and
friends, and he will never be
forgotten.
Interment was at Clover Hill
Park Cemetery. Contributions

BARBARA JEAN BODZIN,
70, of Beachwood, Ohio,
formerly of Michigan, died
March 17, 2023.
She is survived by her long-
time companion and devot-

Bob and Linda Bodzin of
Farmington Hills; sister and
brother-in-law, Kayla and Dr.
Robert Vodnoy of Valparaiso,
Ind.; nephews and niece, Avi
Vodnoy Wolf, David Bodzin,
Jennifer and Jim Delproposto;
great-niece and great-nephew,
Olivia Delproposto, Lucas
Delproposto.

FISZBEIN, 91, of
West Bloomfield,
died March 25,
2023.
She is survived
by her children, Michael
(Lisa) Fiszbein, Jeffrey
(Nancy) Fiszbein and Renae
(Joshua) Tukel; grandchil-
dren, Dana (Adam) Ruben,
David (Kamila) Fiszbein,
Alex Fiszbein, Jacob Tukel, Eli
Tukel and Jillian Tukel; sister,
Thelma Zucker; many loving
nieces, nephews, other family
members and friends.
Mrs. Fiszbein was the
beloved wife of the late Arthur
Fiszbein; sister of the late
Irwin Bank, the late Millie
Bank, the late Bee Soifer, the
late Sue Stegman, the late
Oscar Bank and the late Harry
Bank.
Interment took place at
Adat Shalom Memorial
Park Cemetery in Livonia.

MADELYNE
FRIEDMAN, 86,
of Southfield, died
March 16, 2023.
A graduate
of Central High
School, Madelyne had two
educational degrees: a bache-
lor’s degree in education and,
later in life, a master’s degree
in guidance and counseling.
She is survived by her
daughters, Amie Friedman
of West Bloomfield, Lisa
Friedman of Brentwood, Calif.,
Betsy Friedman of Southfield;
grandchildren, Matthew

Friedman, Rachel Friedman;
sisters-in-law and brother-in-
law, Linda Sherr, Arthur and
Leba Friedman; many other
loving relatives and friends.
Madelyne was the treasured
daughter of the late Rebecca
“Betty” Gendloff and the late
Louis Weinstein; cherished
sister of the late Barbara Rose
Weinstein; dear sister-in-law
of the late Ronald Sherr; dear
daughter-in-law of the late
Edith Friedman and the late
Jack Friedman.
