loomfield Hills Schools district is still feeling the
sting of a diversity day at the high school that back-
fired March 14 when panelist and anti-Israel activist
Huwaida Arraf diverted from the topic of describing her
childhood experiences of growing up Arab American in
Metro Detroit to instead deliver her one-sided politicized
views about Israel.
She was allowed to deliver her agenda in four mandatory
assemblies to all 1,700 high school students. Now, students
— especially Jewish students — report being threatened, and
the entire student body has fragmented in places where there
previously were no divisions.
At press time, the Bloomfield Hills Board of Education
was scheduled to meet at 8 p.m. Monday, March 20, for
an emergency session, according to a board mem-
ber. There has been talk calling for the ouster of
either the high school principal, the district
superintendent, or the diversity equity or
inclusion adviser for not properly vet-
ting the panelists or protecting the
students.

unsuccessfully for Congress

Divisions at BHHS will
take time to heal after
speaker presents biased
anti-Israel rhetoric.
