MAURY
STANTON, 92, of
Auburn Hills, died
Feb. 17, 2023.
Mr. Stanton was
a devoted husband
of 62 years to his
wife, Audrey. A
loving father, grandfather and
a Korean War Navy veteran,
Maury was a businessman,
entrepreneur and a talented
artist. He always had a story
or joke to tell and a twinkle
in his gorgeous blue eyes.
Throughout his life, he touched
many people’s lives both
personally and professionally
and was a mentor to many.
Maury was ahead of his
time, always coming up with
new products and business
ventures until the time he

passed. It is said some people
don’t have enough time on this
Earth, he was one of them; at
92, he was still a young man
at heart. He loved the song by
Frank Sinatra “My Way” and
that is how Maury lived his life.
ABC Dad!
Mr. Stanton is survived by
his loving daughter, Tracy
Katz (Stanton); loving son,
Randy Stanton; cherished
grandchildren, Logan Katz,
Dane Stanton, Madison
Stanton.
He was the son of the
late Alex and the late Lillian
Sonnenstrahl, and husband of
the late Audrey Stanton.
A memorial service was
held at Great Lakes National
Cemetery. Contributions

DENISE HOPE
WAYNE (née
Nelson), 84, died
on Feb. 22, 2023,
in Durham, North
Carolina, near
where she lived with her
husband, Bruce (recently
deceased) since 2011.
She was born in Detroit in
1938 and lived in the Detroit
Metro area for most of her
life. Denise was a realtor for
25 years until she started
treatment for breast cancer
at the age of 60. Up until that
point, she was a successful real
estate agent with a knack for
matching the buyer with the
perfect house at the right price
point. She loved her work, and
many of her clients came to
her by word-of-mouth from
other satisfied customers.

Unfortunately, her health
suffered tremendously from
the cancer treatments, and she
didn’t feel strong enough to
continue working.
 Denise was an outstanding
home cook and enjoyed
making delicious and
nutritious meals. She was
always trying out new gourmet
recipes but would also come
back to everyone’s favorites,
including braised brisket,
Cornish game hen, vegetarian
split pea soup, Teddie’s apple
cake, apple crumble, chocolate
chunk cookies and toffee-
topped fudgy brownies.
 Denise had been living with
Alzheimer’s Disease for years,
and it slowly robbed her of
her memories and ability to
function independently. She
was married to her beloved
Bruce for 64 years until he
passed away on Aug. 2, 2022.
She is survived by her
daughters, Nancy Wayne
(Greg Miller) and Karen
Klausmeyer; grandchildren,
Kyle Anne Wayne Colwell,
Allison Hope Wayne Colwell,
Bryan Keil Klausmeyer, Jason
Wayne Klausmeyer (Shawdai);
great-granddaughter, Avery
Klausmeyer; and brother,
David Robert Nelson (Sylvia).
 Date of memorial service
in the Detroit area is to be
determined.
