OBITUARIES OF BLESSED MEMORY CAROL BEZ, 80, of West Bloomfield, died, Feb. 15, 2023. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Dr. Douglas Bez, and Dr. Joel and Leslie Bez; loving grandchildren, Hannah (Justin) Roberts, Alex Bez, David Bez, Bradley Bez and Brooke Bez; devoted brother and sister-in-law, David and Colleen Ehrenfeld; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Allyn Lite; many other loving family members and friends. Mrs. Bez was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Bert Bez. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Interment took place at Clover Hill Park Cemetery in Birmingham. Arrangements by Dorfman Chapel. BARBARA ESKIN, 82, of West Bloomfield, died Feb. 8, 2023. She taught at Hillel Day School for more than 50 years and for several years at Temple Israel. She was a proud mem- ber of the David Horodok Organization and member of Adat Shalom Synagogue. Barbara created magic with her hands. She designed and made siddur covers, tallit bags, shower wraps, football pillows, scarves and so much more. Each with love and care. Judaism, family and dear friends were the centers of her world. She was the beloved daughter of the late Irving and Sylvia Pelavin. She was the beloved wife of the late Mort Eskin; cherished mother to Marcie Goldstein, Jon (Laina) Eskin, Debbie (Darryl) Kaplan and son- in-law, Ethan Goldstein. She was the sister of Ed Pelavin (Arlene), Ron Pelavin; sister- in-law to Jerry (the late Judy) Eskin. Her gems were her grand- children, who carry on her legacy. She was bubbie to Ben, Seth and Manya Goldstein, Morgan and Max Kaplan. She was also survived by many cousins and a world of close friends. She will be dearly missed by all who were lucky to have her in their lives. Interment was held at Adat Shalom Synagogue. She was cher- ished by many as a wonder- ful wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by her grief-stricken husband of 46 years, William “Bill” Gerlich. Her loss will also be mourned by her fami- ly for many years to come. Mrs. Gerlich is sur- vived by her mother, Carol Waterstone; children, Heather, Greg and wife, Amy Gerlich; grandsons, Jacob, Calvin and Axel; siblings and their spouses, Sherrie and John Waterstone, Joel and Carrie Waterstone, and Jared Waterstone; nieces and their husbands, Isabella 64 | FEBRUARY 23 • 2023 H enry Phillip Lee, 81 (just shy of his 82nd birthday), died Feb. 10, 2023. Henry was born in Detroit, Feb. 14, 1941, to Lucille Solovich and Herbert Lee. Whether it was through his legal career or volunteer work, his goal in life was to make the world a better place. Henry said the best thing that ever happened to him was meeting the love of his life, Linda Marash. They were mar- ried for 46 years before she died in 2014. Henry took pride in edu- cation and was proud of his degrees. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, his law degree from Indiana University at Bloomington School of Law and his postgraduate LL.M. degree in taxation from New York University School of Law. He practiced law for more than 50 years, specializing in business law, estate planning and tax law. He was a for- mer faculty member of the American Bar Association – American Law Institute, chair of the Estates & Trusts Committee of the Taxation Section of the Oakland County Bar Association, chair of the Summer Tax Conference for the Tax Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and a member of the Legislative Development and Drafting Committee of the Probate Section of the State Bar of Michigan. He was proud of his vol- unteer work, which includ- ed secular and non-secular. Henry was a past president and board member of Hebrew Free Loan and a former mem- ber of the board of governors of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit. He was also a member of the Planned Giving Committees of the Robert Tannahill Society (Detroit Institute of Arts), The Community House (Birmingham) and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center. He was also a board member of Child Safe/Judson Center and the Sky Foundation. Henry’s hobbies included theater, arts, art collecting, gar- dening and traveling. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, including his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sheri Lee and Dennis Brodsky; son, Andrew Lee; grandchildren, Felix and Hugo Brodsky, and Asher and Hudson Lee; sister, Linda Lee Albert; brother-in-law, Irwin Miller; former daughter-in-law, Benita Green Lee. He also leaves behind his companion, Barbara Kaplan; and many loving niec- es and nephews. Henry felt very fortunate to have lifelong friends, Norman and Ros Levy, and Harold and Diane Waller. Henry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Linda Marash Lee; brothers- and sisters-in-law, J Brock Albert, Pam Miller, Larry Kamen and Bonnie Marash.
