died Feb. 10, 2023. 
Fran lived at Meer 
Apartments for 20 
years and was proud to be 
known as “the Mayor of Meer.
”
She is survived by her 

children, Dr. Randee and 
Dr. Robert Bloom of West 
Bloomfield, Mark Penskar of 
Orinda, Calif., Alan Penskar 
of Novi; sister, Marian Cohen 
of Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandchil-
dren, Ashley and Peter Kenny, 
Caitlin and Brad Stulberg, 
Zack Bloom, David and Liane 
Penskar, Rebecca and Michael 
Gherini; great-grandchildren, 
Liam Kenny, Jack Kenny, Theo 
and Lila Stulberg. She will be 
missed dearly by all who knew 
and loved her, grateful for the 
amazing life she had and how 
she shared her joyful spirit.
Mrs. Penskar was the beloved 
wife for 54 years of the late Sol 
Leonard Penskar; dear mother-
in-law of the late Carol Penskar; 
loving sister-in-law of the 
late Richard Cohen; devoted 

daughter of the late Arthur and 
the late Hilda Rosenthal.

of Bloomfield Hills, 
died Feb. 13, 2023. 
She is survived 
by her beloved 
sons, Jackson Rosenzweig and 
Eli Rosenzweig; loving moth-
er, Harriet Helfman; devoted 
brother, Adam Helfman; many 
other loving family members 
and a world of friends. 

Melissa was the loving 
daughter of the late Joel 
Helfman.

place at Adat Shalom Memorial
