curious minds seemed to be
his calling. After six months
in Tel Aviv, he returned home
to spend time with family
before making the final move.
However, fate intervened. While
working and saving up some
much-needed money — his
excursion in Tel Aviv was
anything but affordable — he
met the woman who is now his
wife.
His calling remained the
same though, so he decided
to continue his education in
Jewish history with a master’s
degree from Wayne State
University and is now working
on a Ph.D., with Israeli social
history as his dissertation topic.
He taught courses at the
University of Windsor for two
semesters before accepting a
position teaching at his first
alma mater — Hillel Day
School. He now teaches curious,

young, Jewish minds about the
history of their ancestors, as
well as social studies and Judaic
studies.
Last year, he and his wife,
Sara, welcomed their beautiful
baby girl, Luna, into the world.
They live in Berkley, where
they love going on walks and
spending time with family and
friends. Tom and Sara enjoy
fowling and are a formidable
duo in that arena. Tom also
considers himself an amateur
barbecue pit master. He likes
central Texas-style the most and
smoked brisket in particular.
