AVRUMI
LORKIS
After
graduating with
a bachelor’s
of science in
biology from
Wayne State
University, Avrumi has applied
his energies to teaching and has
taught in some capacity at all of
the Orthodox Jewish schools.
He is currently teaching English
at Yeshivas Darchei Torah
and science at Vista Meadows
Academy.
Avrumi’s family has a storied
history in Jewish Detroit. His
recent ancestors were involved
at Congregation Shaarey
Zedek, United Hebrew Schools
and United Jewish Charities,
which was the forerunner
to the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit.
In 2019, Avrumi approached
Matan B’Seter Detroit with
the idea of a hockey game as a
charity event.
Four years later, the Detroit
Hockey Showdown is still going
strong and has raised more
than $250,000 for the tzedakah
organization.
Avrumi is very active in
his local shul, Bais Haknesses
HaGrah, located in Oak Park.
He is also very fortunate to be
surrounded by family, including
parents, grandparents, cousins
and more. Avrumi is the only

child who lives in Michigan;
other siblings live in New York
and Israel.
He is happily married to
Tehilla (Friedman) Lorkis, and
is the proud father to Nechama,
Elian and Levi.
A longtime resident of Oak
Park, Avrumi enjoys living in
the area and exploring Detroit
history. When not spending
time with family, Avrumi
tries to find time to play and
organize ice hockey and to play
music with friends.

DR. RICHARD
LEVINE
Dr. Richard
Levine is
a third-
generation
doctor of
chiropractic at
Levine Clinic of Chiropractic in
Farmington Hills.
A strong proponent of
wellness, Rick teaches his
patients that health is more
than just the presence or
absence of symptoms and
works to help them make
changes that will keep them
healthy. With Levine Clinic’s
motto being “nothing is more
precious than your health,
”
his goals in practice are to
improve quality of life in those
suffering and help them avoid
medications and surgeries. He
treats many families, adjusting

everyone from newborns
to centenarians, and prides
himself in gentle, effective and
research-backed techniques.
He helps patients overcome
conditions like sciatica, disc
injuries, back and neck pain,
headaches and even allergies.
His greatest joy in practice is
seeing patients transition from
believing that their pain is
incurable and “just something
they will have to live with” to
recovering and doing the things
they love.
Wanting to best serve his
profession, Rick is the president
of District 3 of the Michigan
Association of Chiropractic
and was recently appointed
by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to
serve on the Michigan Board
of Chiropractic, the state body
that oversees all chiropractors
in Michigan. He is a graduate of
the University of Michigan and
Palmer College of Chiropractic.
In his free time, you can find
Rick catching live concerts or
stand-up comedy. His favorite
hobby is playing the drums. His
fiancee, Dr. Molly Gross, is a
child psychologist, and they are
very excited for their upcoming
wedding this May.
A participant in Partners
in Torah, he studies every
Thursday with his dear friend
and rabbi, Shmuli Wolf. He
is also a part of the planning
