Andrew has served on the
“Bucket List” of The Well and
volunteers with the Michigan
State Historical Marker
program. He lives in Ypsilanti
with his fiancée, Anna
Megdell, a fiction writer, and
their cat Diego — making his
parents proud by moving back
to Southeast Michigan. When
they’re not planning their
wedding, Andrew and Anna
like browsing the Ann Arbor
Farmers Market and Literati
bookstore and taking visitors
for sandwiches at Zingerman’s.

NIKKI WALD
Nikki Wald
was born and
raised in the
Metro Detroit
area, and she
works as a
group sales
representative for the Detroit
Pistons. She graduated from
the University of Michigan
with a bachelor’s degree
in sports management
and a master’s degree in
management. She also played
softball for all four years of
her undergraduate studies
and won three Big Ten
Championships and paid two
visits to the Women’s College
World Series.
Throughout her childhood,
she attended JCC and
Tamarack summer camps,
participated in Temple Israel’s
religious school and children’s
choir, and was active in BBYO
Michigan Region. As an adult,
she participates in NEXTGen
Detroit and The Well events.
Throughout her life, her
interests have always been
drawn to sports. When she
began working for the Detroit
Pistons, she was introduced to
many theme nights, including
Hispanic Heritage Night, Irish
Heritage Night and others.

However, she noticed there
was not a Jewish Heritage
Night. Disappointed by this
realization, she took it upon
herself to establish a Jewish
Heritage Night for the Pistons’
organization.
Building this Heritage
Night from the ground up,
she was able to unite Jewish
organizations throughout
Metro Detroit. At this game,
the Pistons organization
recognized the Jewish
community, celebrated
its former Jewish owner,
William “Bill” Davidson’s
100th birthday, showcased
a Klezmer band, and had
Ryan Turell, a member of the
Pistons’ G-League affiliate and
the first Orthodox member
of any NBA-affiliated team,
sign autographs. Attendees
enjoyed a Jewish Heritage
Night T-shirt and kosher
food, which is unavailable at a
normal game.
Bringing the Jewish
community together,
especially during a time
when antisemitism is on
the rise, was an important
accomplishment for her.
People might be surprised
to know that not only was
Nikki in theater in high
school, but she also was on
an international dance team
in college while obtaining her
master’s degree.

ANDREW
MOSS
Andrew Moss
is the vice
president of
operations
at Advance
Plumbing &
Heating Supply Company,
a fourth-generation family-
owned and operated business
headquartered in Detroit. In
this role, Andrew is tasked
with leading the company’s
day-to-day operations and

strategic initiatives, ranging
from customer service and
accounting to inventory
management and IT. Since
his arrival at Advance, the
company has grown from
38 team members to more
than 60 (and growing) and is
a finalist for DBusiness’ Top
Corporate Culture Award.
Within the industry,
Andrew is an active member
of multiple trade organizations
and buying groups. He is a
member of the Decorative
Plumbing & Hardware
Association’s Professional
Development Committee and
a regular panel member of
the organization’s educational
webinars. He is also part of the
North Central Wholesaler’s
Association Leadership
Development Council.
Outside of work, Andrew is
a board member of NEXTGen
Detroit, serving as a co-chair
of the Israel and Overseas
Committee. In this role,
Andrew works to both educate
Jewish young adults about
Israel and to foster widespread
dialogue about issues relating
to Israel. He sincerely hopes
this work can create a deeper
connection between Israel and
Jewish young adults.
Through his NEXTGen
involvement, Andrew has been
able to participate in multiple
programs and get involved
with more organizations both
within and outside of Metro
Detroit. Andrew is a board
member of JCRC/AJC through
the Liaison program and
traveled to Argentina this past
year with JDC’s Entwine. With
both of these organizations,
Andrew is working to
strengthen ties between local
and foreign communities.
Andrew loves walking
around Detroit and practicing
yoga. He hopes to be able
to get to full splits and a
handstand this year.
