Building Bridges
in Israel and
Around the World

On Nov. 1, the eve of Israeli elections, former U.S.
Ambassador to Israel Daniel B. Shapiro was in the Detroit
area. He spoke to friends and supporters of Magen David
Adom (MDA), Israel’s national paramedic and Red Cross
service, at the home of Sandy and Jim Danto in Bloomfield
Hills.
The ambassador, currently a distinguished fellow at the
Atlantic Council, gave a firsthand account of his diplomatic
experience in Israel and his current work in the post-Abra-
ham Accords era. Uri Shacham, deputy director-general and
chief of staff for MDA, spoke about how the work MDA
does builds bridges between people of all faiths in Israel and
around the world.
“Jim and I are grateful for MDA’s lifesaving work in Israel
and around the globe,” said Sandy Danto. “Israelis depend
on Magen David Adom in peace, war and health crises, such
as COVID-19. Their global rescue and training leadership is
tikkun olam at its very best.”

For more information about Magen David Adom, contact Wendy Strip at
