With the rise of antisemitism
and national-origin
discrimination against Israeli-
Americans, now is the time
for leaders to stand up with a
voice of moral clarity.”
While honoring Israeli-
Americans, Scott and
Rosen also condemned
incidents of antisemitism
with assaults and bullying
targeting American Jews
and Israeli-Americans,
especially younger people in
grade schools and on college
campuses.
The resolution “condemns
all forms of antisemitism,
discrimination and violence
that aim to marginalize or
disenfranchise members
of the Israeli-American
community, the Jewish
community broadly, and
individuals of Israeli or
Jewish origin; or infringe
upon the ability of Israeli-
Americans and other
individuals to celebrate
Israeli-American heritage and
a deep connection to Israel.”
“
As the third Jewish
woman to ever serve in
the U.S. Senate, I’m proud
to help introduce this
resolution to honor the
culture, heritage and legacy of
Israeli-Americans. At a time
of rising antisemitism that
impacts Israeli-Americans,
this resolution recognizes
their contributions to the
United States and condemns
all forms of hate and
discrimination,” Rosen said.
“It particularly pains me
to see the Jewish commu-
nity and, in particular, the
Israeli-American subset
targeted with national origin
discrimination by the anti-Is-
rael Boycott, Divestment and
Sanctions (BDS) hate move-
ment. This hate and bias have
no place in the United States
of America,” Scott said.
When JSL opened the
Brown Memory Care Pavilion
in 2004, Janet incorporated
Snoezelen, a unique sensory
program for people with
memory loss or impairments.
Antin was a major asset to
programming at Fleischman,
but in her 10th year, when
she was asked to stand in at
Coville Assisted Living in Oak
Park as the administrator,
she found that she loved this
new challenge. Although her
position as administrator was
supposed to be temporary,
Antin remained 10 years.
Antin continues to
educate staff, volunteers and
community groups with her
Sensitivity Training program.
This is intended to enlighten
participants to feel what it’s
like to age and understand
the road that our older adults
have traveled.
Soon she will meet with
sixth-grade students at
Hillel Day School, who will
be participating in the Dor
L
’Dor program that takes
place on the JSL campus.
Her Empathy Workshop will
educate students about the
treatment of JSL residents,
and they will learn about the
challenges older adults face
with vision, hearing, mobility
and memory.
Antin has spent most of her
career serving others with a
special place in her heart for
older adults and says, “You
feel most alive when you do
for others.
”
She puts JSL residents first
and this gives meaning and
purpose to her life.

At Jewish Senior Life, we’re thankful for a community
where residents can actively engage with one another
and, as a result, remain active in mind, body and spirit.
It’s far more than a place to live, it’s a rich community
where bonds of friendship are built or renewed, and
passions are pursued.
