DR. LARRY LAFOND, 71,
of Commerce Township,
died Nov. 18, 2022.
He is survived by his wife
of 48 years, Betsy LaFond;
son, Sean LaFond; daughter,
Sophie LaFond; sisters and
brothers-in-law, Anna and
Mitchel Kozloff of Georgia,
Barbara and Garry Nusinow;
mother-in-law, Harriet Selik;
sisters-in-law and broth-

ers-in-law, Judi Selik, Scott
Selik, Joel Selik; many loving
and caring nieces, nephews,
cousins, patients, devoted
employees and friends. He is
also survived by his African
Grey Parrot, Louie.
Dr. LaFond was the cher-
ished son of the late Beverly
and the late Samuel LaFond;
dear son-in-law of the late
Martin Selik.
Contributions may be
made to a charity of one’s
choice. A graveside service
was held at Adat Shalom
Memorial Park in Livonia.
Arrangements by Hebrew
Memorial Chapel.

NANCY VICTORSON
OLENDER passed peaceful-
ly early Thanksgiving morn-
ing on Nov. 24, 2022; she was
83 years old.
Nancy lived her life full
of love and devotion to her
family. She was a partner to

her husband, Charles, for 51
years. Nancy always referred
to Grand Rapids as her home
even after the snowbird years
and their eventual retirement
in southwest Florida.
Nancy was the beloved
wife of Charles Olender;
cherished mother of Hope
(Al) Warren, Ronald (Nancy)
Olender and Marc (Wil)
Olender. She was the adoring
grandmother to Zachary,
Seth and Drew Warren; and
the loving sister of Larry
Victorson. Nancy also leaves
behind her constant canine
companion, Shayna. Several
nieces, nephews, cousins and
special friends from all over
the country also survive her.
A memorial service will
be held this spring in Grand
Rapids. Contributions may
be made to the Alzheimer’s
Association and Hope
Hospice.

We believe that every Jew has a portion in the world to come.

THE HONORABLE
JUDGE JAMIE L.
WITTENBERG, 48, of
Berkley, died on Nov. 20,
2022.
Judge Wittenberg was
recently reelected for his third term to the
44th District Court serving Royal Oak
and Berkley. His well-respected tenure
on the bench began in 2008, after a dis-
tinguished career as a prosecutor serving
both Wayne and Macomb Counties.
He was the beloved husband of Staci
Wittenberg; cherished father of Arielle,
Talia, Brooke and Maya; the devoted
son of Howard Wittenberg and Mollie
Wittenberg; dear brother of Jodie (Gary)
Heicklen and Robert (Kimberly Palter)
Wittenberg; adoring son-in-law of
Stephen and Joan Redisch; dearest broth-
er-in-law of Michael (Heather) Redisch.
He is also survived by many loving nieces,
nephews, other family members and a
world of devoted friends.
Interment was at Clover Hill Park in
Birmingham. Arrangements by Dorfman
Chapel. A special remembrance of Judge
Wittenberg’s life will run in next week’s
issue of the JN.
