The Jewish Community
Relations Council/AJC hosted
its first fully indoor Media
Luncheon in three years,
as they brought together
journalists and media figures
from across the Detroit news
market.
Those in attendance were
offered the opportunity to
explore the parallels between
Detroit and Israel and what
each can learn from one
another by guest speaker
Consul General of Israel to the
Midwest Yinam Cohen.
The lunch was held at the
Detroit Athletic Club and
hosted more than 60 attendees
who were able to ask questions
of the Consul General.
JCRC/AJC executive
director Rabbi Asher Lopatin
engaged the Consul General
in a conversation about
everything from antisemitism
to how Israel is addressing
climate change.
“Critical to the work of
the JCRC/AJC is getting out
the message that the Jewish
State is a blessing and an
opportunity to the entire
world, and that Israel is a

great partner to the state
of Michigan and Detroit in
business and civic areas,
”
Lopatin said.
“Consul General Cohen
spoke eloquently about how
Israel is working to meet
the challenges of global
warming, health equality and
establishing peace with its
neighbors. We cannot wait to
have him back in Detroit.
”
JCRC/AJC makes it a top
priority to engage and nurture
a relationship with the media.
The event was generously
sponsored by Bob and Linda
Finkel.
