16, 1952, and are 
happy to announce their

Sandy Rockind of Chicago, Ill., is thrilled to 
announce the birth of her daughter, Leora 
Goldie (Leora Zahava Yael), named in loving 
memory of her paternal great-grandfather 
Leo Rochkind and her paternal great-
grandmother Geraldine Rochkind. Proud grandparents 
are Gladys and Larry Rockind of West Bloomfield. Big 
sister Mitzi Noa is excited to welcome her baby sister to 
the family.

bat mitzvah at 
Adat Shalom 
Synagogue in Farmington 
Hills on Saturday, Nov. 26, 
2022. She will be joined in 
celebration by her brothers 
Zack and Ezra. Olivia is the 
loving granddaughter of 
Leslie and David Ben-Ezra, 
Linda Keller, and Andy and 
Suzanne Keller.
Olivia is a student at Hillel 
Day School of Metropolitan 
Detroit in Farmington Hills. 
Her meaningful mitzvah 
project included helping 
sort books and collecting 
children’s books for 
Bookstock.

Jonah Harper 
Nakisher, son of 
Allison and Marc 
Nakisher, will be 
called to the 
Torah as a bar 
mitzvah at Temple Shir 
Shalom in West Bloomfield 
on Friday, Nov. 25, 2022. 
He will be joined in celebra-
tion by his sister Rachel and 
brother Ryan. Jonah is the 
loving grandchild of Hazel 
and Len Nakisher, and 
Rochelle and Mickey Kole. 
He is a student at the 
Norup International School 
in Oak Park. As an avid out-
doorsman, for his mitzvah 
project Jonah spent time in 
northern Michigan guarding 
the majestic, endangered 
lake sturgeon from poach-
ers. 

Sophie Talia 
Steinberg, 
daughter of 
Esther and Eric 
Steinberg, was 
called to the 
Torah as a bat mitzvah at 
Congregation Shaarey 
Zedek in Southfield on 
Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022. 
She was joined in 
celebration by her brother 
Alex. Sophie is the loving 
grandchild of Louise and 

Robert Horowitz, and 
Tammy and Lee Steinberg.
She is a student at 
Derby Middle School in 
Birmingham. Her most 
meaningful mitzvah project 
was volunteering with the 
JCC Peer Corps Camp, 
during which she engaged 
in service and learning 
around pressing issues 
in our Detroit and Metro 
Detroit communities
